About Me

Hello! I’m Salomon. I am passionate about Cloud Computing and Data Centers. I am experienced in Telecom and Network Operations and I'm an enthusiast of all things Cloud Technology. I am a team worker that not only gets the job done but will learn quickly and has proven to be a great fit on multiple different teams no matter the job ahead.

I am not one to shy away from a challenge! I currently have set 3 goals for 2024; Get Azure certified, Terraform certified, and GCP certified. I also am getting into Kubernetes and Python in order to add more to my toolkit. This website was built by myself using S3, R53, ACM, CDN and VSCode (with the help of Material Resume for the JS template!).

Work Experience

Network Technician at Rogers
November, 2021 - Present
Installation, troubleshoot, configuration of cellular network systems such as GSM, UMTS, LTE and 5GNR. My tasks consisted of logging into different equipments to investigate and resolve network issues as well as any infrastructure deficiencies found on site at various base stations.
Data Center Technician at Cologix MTL10
March, 2020 - October, 2021
Data Center Operations and NOC duties such as remote hands assistance, facility inspections of HVAC, power and IT equipment. My shift was the 6pm-6am timeslot which allowed me to be the main technician involved in troubleshooting and installing critical fiber cross connects.
Structured Cabling Technician at AJS Groupe
August, 2019 - Febuaury, 2020
Installation and repair of telecom cabling in Data Centers, construction sites, and Condo complexes. I was involved in a major project alongside Nowa systems where I was a lead technician in the deployment of a water detection home automation system.

AWS Website

Successfully architected and implemented a solution for a client where the requirements were high availability, fault tolerence and secure access to the database layer through a bastion host (SSH for admins). I did this using an ASG and ALB for the availability and fault tolerence, as well as implementing the RDS databases in private subnets, allowing only the bastion host secure access via the SG rules. I also made use of SSM for the DB endpoint as well as the username and password to access it.

Terraform / AWS / Azure / HCL

Deploying IaC

I have successfully deployed AWS and Azure environments in Terraform both directly from my Linux command line as well as on Terraform Cloud linked with GitHub to enforce CI/CD. I am currently challenging myself to strictly use Terraform cloud alongside GitHub to build any kind of cloud infrastructure instead of the GUI to really enforce this best practice in my journey.

AWS File Gateway / S3 / Linux / NFS

AWS File Storage Gateway

One of my favourite projects was this one as it is super practical for just about anybody. I implemented a solution where I migrated data to Amazon S3 by using AWS Storage Gateway in File Gateway mode. This was done as a solution to build a hybrid environment where on a linux machine we could mount an S3 bucket as if it were a storage drive on a local machine.
